Everyday Life |
| Welcome Page | Dave who? If you know the answer to that, you're one in a million - literally. I'm a product of the fifties who came of age in the seventies, and is still trying to figure out the nineties. My real name is Dave Glardon, though I'm fairly sure my family would rather I didn't use it. Oh well. My daughters may eventually take someone else's name, and my wife married me on purpose, so she deserves it. It doesn't really matter how long I've been on this earth, because I'm convinced the best is yet to come. Suffice to say I've got two grown daughters (chronologically speaking) and a six year-old grandson who is the joy of my life. I'm a resident of Xenia, Ohio. That is, until I strike it rich and move back to Key West. Okay, I'd settle for Hollywood. I began writing humor late in the twentieth century - sounds like such a long time ago, doesn't it? Eventually, I let others read my work, and finally a few friends persuaded me to do a regular column. So in the infamous year 2000, I created Everyday Life, my award-winning humor column. The rest is pretty much a blur. Somewhere along the way, I picked up readers in more than thirty countries around the world. In 2003, a major Middle Eastern news agency named me among today's top ten humorists. Laughter truly is universal. And in December 2004, I was deeply honored when the Editor & Publisher magazine named me as a potential replacement for Dave Barry as he begins a well-deserved sabbatical. Along with Erma Bombeck and D. L. Stewart, Dave Barry has been my inspiration over the years. To be mentioned in the same vein is simply incredible. In addition to writing, I perform stand-up comedy at clubs and colleges throughout the Midwest. I've been a guest on several radio shows, and have been a celebrity auctioneer for Think TV (Dayton, Ohio) for three years running. And most recently, I landed a role in an independent film about an aspiring comedian trying to make it in the business. It's a small part, but a thrill just the same. If you'd like to know more, drop me an email. I'd love to hear from you! |
